Something to think about on Sunday…

Due to camera problems I haven’t been able to photograph the cartoons which accompany the article I had intended to post. So… as I wait (rather impatiently) for Monday morning to tick around… thought I’d post up instead this little poem I wrote on a rainy Sunday (not unlike this one) a few years back.
I hope you enjoy it!
FOR THE DAY
Yesterday’s a memory
tomorrow just a dream
so live your life completely
time is not what it seems…
For you only have this moment
and you only have this day
to recognise your happiness
and let it light your way…
Don’t waste your time in worrying
that your days may be too short
for it’s what you put in - to each day
should occupy your thoughts…
Keep memories close at heart
and dream about tomorrow
but don’t let hopes and past regrets
bring with them too much sorrow…
Regrets for wasted moments
and thoughts “what may have been”
will only bring you sadness
and ruin future dreams…
Today is where you’ve started
to begin your life anew
so live each day completely
your life is “up to you”…

Jean, this is just wonderful! It is such a good message, and I absolutely love your painting of the woman with the umbrella on the rainy day. We had a rainy day Sunday here today also. It’s kind of amazing to think that half way around the world in Australia, you were having the same kind of day we were having in Texas. Our temps have been high 70’s-low 80’s for the past several days. The trees are budding out and flowers are starting to bloom. It appears that Spring has sprung.

The poem is lovely, but I especially LOVE the painting! Besides the fact that you’ve captured the feeling of the rain perfectly, there’s a glow that just explodes from deep inside the girl’s heart and soul.

It is snowing here today. I think we are just getting the edge of the storm. I hope we don’t get the freezing rain which is part of the system , the icy trees and grasses are beautiful but now that I live out in the bush with overhead wires I don’t look forward to the power outages that come with. The painting is great jean and so is the photo of the rain. roger

I just love your poem Jean and the painting of the lady laughing in the rain makes me feel happy. We have leaden skies here today in Worcestershire and bursts of heavy rain……..the sight of carpets of snowdrops, crocuses and daffodils in bud make a cheering promise that Spring is just round the corner…….What a wonderful thought!

Yes, your painting is absolutely delightful! And the poem equally so! I love reading your blog Jean…You write with such keen wit, wisdom and erudition. And I’m always left with a sense of hope and wholeness. When will you be writing a book?!

NITA - Yes… reminds me of the song Rainy Night in Georgia…it certainly “feels like it’s raining all over the world”! So nice to know that Spring is always just around the corner… (in our case Autumn) Thanks for taking a look… and your nice comments!
JOHN - This little painting just 5 x 7 was done as part of a Postcard series. It lives in the US somewhere now… (at Dot’s place)! So pleased you liked it!
ROGER -Snow no less! It must be about time for a warm change there? I think this photo was taken from somewhere around the big gun (remember the one outside the RSL?) on Cairns Esplanade. That’s pretty much how the weather looks here at the moment… but I love the dramatic skies and the thundering rain of summer. Kind of makes you feel alive! I’m pleased you liked both pics!
BOBBIE - Hang in there… Spring’s on it’s way… (tho we’re not quite done with it here yet… still hot humid… and raining!) What say I speak to the guy who handles the orbits and organise a bit of a tilt for you okay? *wink* hmmm… second thoughts… maybe not… we’ve never seen snow in Cairns but hey… who knows what the future may hold? LOL Thanks for your lovely comments…
MARY - Thanks for the vote of confidence! To make a difference to someone somewhere is one of the greatest rewards of the writing experience. I am humbled… completely!
