Hi Jools

I only found out about the exhibition this week... leaving me just a few hair raising days to prepare my entries. I get the Australian Cartoonist Association newsletter and the event was listed in there. I was surprised to discover that this renowned cartoon gallery is in Coffs Harbour... not far from you. It's a very arty place you're in! :-)

(((chuckles))) yeah I know I know... his probable motive wasn't lost on me *sigh* LOL But he had his chance yet didn't take it... preferring instead to keep up the art chat with mum. It was certainly an odd exchange... but delightful all the same. It's funny how all young men around that age remind me of my son. I got the nurturing gene in abundance I'm afraid.

So glad you enjoyed the day out with us! :-)

Lovely post, Jean. I felt as if I was there with you, tagging along and listening. Regarding the young man, he, like generations before him, knew that the best way to make connection with a pretty young thing who's with her mother is to chat up the mum. [grin]

Thanks Anita... I shall. With all the lovely encouragement here what else can I do? I owe it to those who are counting on me to keep on keeping on the best way I know how... and that's by painting and writing. I am currently rushing a deadline to enter two cartoons in the Bunker Cartoon Gallery inaugural Women of the World Exhibition to celebrate International Women's Day. The deadline is four days. Fingers crossed I hope I make it!

Thanks again :-)

Your day sounds wonderful! The "White Forest" looks like a fairyland to me. It must have been quite a feeling to wander around in it. You'll probably never know, but your encounter with the young man may help shape his destiny. Your chance meeting may give him the encouragement to take the plunge and try painting himself. You may have given him a great gift without knowing it. I like the word Serendipity- a chance meeting of two strangers, each giving the other the gift of encouragement. The afternoon tea sounds like a wonderful (though "calorie laden") end to what sounds like the perfect afternoon that your daughter shared with you.

Paint on!!!!

Hmmm... all shall be revealed today as I set forth with paint (and without an easel for the first time ever). It's surprisingly difficult to "produce" in new surroundings and circumstances! As someone who absorbs her environment the distractions are many. However I have a few ideas I'd like to play with... so we shall see how I go! Stay posted... (and in the words of Arnie Governor of Calif) I'll be b-a-c-k... LOL

Thanks Jools... :-)

What a spectacular day you had Jean! Not only did you have the wonderful experience of "drifting" through that amazing white forest, but you shared some of your inspiration with a willing ear..as well as got to have lovely time with your Em! Inspiration often comes from the simplest of everyday things that many of us can miss... and you relayed that so elegantly here! I too am chomping on that bit and am keen to to produce again! So..just what are you going to put on those treasured pieces of paper?????
