full-tilt“Full Tilt”

Here is my entry in the 21st Rotary Cartoon Awards… a national/international competition hosted once again at the Bunker Gallery in Coffs Harbour.  The Awards are a bit of a big deal in the cartoon world with entries accepted from both amateur and professional cartoonists worldwide.

I had two entries ready… but upon (erroneous) advice that captions were disallowed… I didn’t send the second one.  Foul play?  No I don’t think so (grin)  I should have read deeper into the fine print of the entry form to learn that captions were disallowed in the International section only.  So I could have sent the other one as well.   Ha!  Oh well.. c’est la vie.

Originally this was going to be “Climate Change – Full Tilt” (avec captions)  but turned out being plain old “Full Tilt” because that’s all I could fit into the toon after the fact!  Never mind… I think the gag stands quite well on it’s own two feet as a humorous ‘take’ on the irony of weather in this Great South Land over the past year.  I hope so anyway.

Besides… I have no expectations for this entry except that… by participation… it represents my persistence to prevail despite everything.

Keep smiling… you never know when someone’s gonna smile back!  (((chuckles)))  :-)

Yes, Jean, by all means, keep on persisting. Love the cartoon, both for the content as well as for your lovely signature style. Now I’m going to hope you’ll post the other prepared cartoon here soon.

Gosh… I just LOVE this planet and the people on it!

Especially the good friends I have made here over the past two and a half years I have been writing this Blog… and over the 6 years before that over at the Artcafe. The internet has enabled all that. It has been the conduit for friendship between kindred art spirits the world over. What an incredible gift that is.

Sorry guys… just had to get that out so you know how much I appreciate you all. And it can’t be said enough :-)

Raylee… what a surprise! You know I’d love to come to Holroyd. Blogging from there would be so much fun… (for those not in the know… Holroyd is a working cattle station up in the Gulf of Carpentaria a 10 hour drive north of Cairns) I’ve been promising a visit for so long but haven’t actually got there yet… so maybe it’s time? See you soon Raylee :-)

(Also folks you should know… Raylee is no Cheryl the Feral. She is in fact one of the most stylish women you will ever meet) Grin.

Thanks John :-) You are such a good friend. And you keep me on my toes as well… which is great. Grin. I’ll photograph the other cartoon and get it up here soon… (although it’s strictly local politics and probably won’t mean much to a global audience) but who knows… there might just be other politicians out there equally deserving of a poke in the ribs that people can relate to. Let’s put it up and see. (((chuckles)))

Oops… I should clarify… Holroyd is not actually IN the Gulf of Carpentaria… it’s ON Cape York… BESIDE the Gulf of Carpentaria. Locals refer to the Cape as “up in the gulf” which technically isn’t correct as that would mean it’s underwater… sheesh… now that’s clear as mangrove mud… maybe check out Google Maps? Or check out the cartoon above… it’s roughly somewhere just north of the palm tree! (((chuckles)))

Have a great day (or night – depending on where in the world you are) everyone! :-)
