People judge you by what you have done;
you judge yourself by what you think you can do tomorrow.

Very true Nick.

Artists (as indeed writers or creators of any sort) seem to be constantly seeking to raise the bar and can be incredibly hard on themselves in the process.

I met an accomplished musician once who had perfect pitch (not that uncommon) but his struggle for the perfect note not only for himself but everyone else who ever produced one...and every piece of music he ever listened to... spoiled the listening of it [for him] forever. In this case maybe "a little shabby around the edges" can be a good thing!

And yes... all those ideas... what to do to get them out there? My challenge is words and pictures coming at me in equal parts. It's a struggle sometimes to get the priority right... but I keep working on it. Creative people are nothing if not moving pictures... a continual work in progress. LOL

Thanks for stopping by BTW... :-)

this reminded me of a little saying that I like, and it applies well to painting, I think: People judge you by what you have done; you judge yourself by what you think you can do tomorrow.

A pretty good way to motiviate yourself to paint all those ideas that have been floating around in your head that nobody else knows about!

Thanks John :-) Did you check out the Steve Jobs video? It starts out a bit slow but is well worth watching. I was inspired by his reference to connecting the dots. Made sense to me. And I love the impassioned conclusion! Stay Hungry Stay Foolish. Sounds like a plan to me... except for the hungry bit. But I think he more means "for knowledge" as opposed to say... breakfast. LOL
