Postcard From The Waiting Room

February 29, 2012 · 10 comments

It’s not like I haven’t been productive.

[I have]  I just somehow don’t feel like talking about it LOL

Since Paris things have changed.

I’ve changed.

And the restlessness won’t leave me alone!

The new website is coming soon… and I have been stalling here at the Blog waiting to bring you the brand new platform.

But there have been holdups.  And more waiting.

Which only feeds into the restlessness *sigh*

Sometimes… you just gotta wait [grin]

And put the world on hold.

Kick back.  Regroup.  Get focussed on your inner guru (((chuckles)))

Especially we creatives who seem to be on an ebb and flow that other people simply don’t get.

And I don’t think it’s a modern dilemma either.

Emily Bronte wrote it like this:

“If I could I would always work in obscurity and let my efforts be known by their results”

I couldn’t agree more.

But everyone knows it doesn’t work like that [grin]

Not anymore… anyway.

Social networks like Facebook et al [now essential for artists and writers everywhere] can sap our creativity as well.  It’s so comparatively easy to post a hastily assembled line or two and leave the “work” of the blog until later. And it IS work.

The articles here sometimes take 10 hours to write [surprising as that might seem] and that’s without any artwork… so with the new blog I was thinking of reducing the written content considerably and focussing more on the visuals [art and video] as everyone knows that nobody likes to read anymore……….. or do they?

YOUR THOUGHTS?

Leave me a note… let me know what you think!

It’s great you’ve changed. What’s the point of these wonderful experiences if they don’t shift us in some way.

I like reading your posts Jean, I agree it is hard to find the time. I hope you will do a little writing at least!

Looking forward to seeing the new site:).

Thanks Joh :-)

If I ever get the darned thing up LOL But it’s looking good so far and will in some ways separate out what I do here [which will be a good thing] and will give more individual focus to the art which kind of gets lost in “the mix” I think.

As you might have guessed… I LOVE to write… but there’s no point if no-one has time to read it [and I do so understand that as well]

I have a friend [and I hope she's reading this LOL] who starts shaking her head as soon as I start talking about cutting back on the writing content here… so it’s great to know there is such lovely support out there. We kinda need it… we of the lonely cyber waves [you blog Joh... you know what I mean x]

Thanks again btw… it’s always great to see you :-)

Blogging with art and video? Can’t wait to see that! :) It is a very good idea Jane. When are you intend to start?

Hi Jean…your transition sounds exciting. I think you have a real knack for video based on what you’ve put together in previous postings.
I also wonder about how much people really read anymore.
I think short, compact well-written posts still have a place, at least I hope they do!

Thanks Harry :-) I’m sure you’re right. More and more the words have to be cleverly compiled to capture the imagination right away. Once readers hit your page you’ve got to get them to read… or they’ll just bookmark it [at best] to read later and go away. However… having said that… longer posts that wind their way around the topic still truly fascinate me. But I love words. I’m a bit goofy like that LOL Great to hear from you Harry… hope things are going good on your side of the globe! :-)

I know whatever you do will be terrific. I’ve always loved your art, and I’ve admired your adventurous experiments with videos. Your instincts will serve you well, I’ve no doubt.

Thanks Galen :-) I love your faith in me… and appreciate it more than you could imagine. I’m looking forward to the changes here [finally trading in my little purple patch for white LOL] It’s looking good… so far… so good. Thanks again.
